Frequently Asked Questions

When will I receive my prosthesis?

This is easily the first question on most new patient’s minds. The honest answer is that it is different for everyone. The Summit team works diligently to ensure that your insurance company will cover a portion of the cost of your prosthesis and keep your bill as low as possible. The majority of insurance companies follow Medicare guidelines, which comes with a fair amount of paperwork that we will request from your physician. We strive to keep you updated on the process until you are ready to be scheduled for your next appointment.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes! While we always encourage scheduling appointments ahead of time, we always welcome walk-ins and are happy to assist you or schedule an appointment for a later date.

Are you in-network with my insurance?

Summit City Prosthetics & Orthotics accepts traditional Medicare/Medicaid and the majority of insurance companies. If your insurance is not specifically listed on our website, we may still be in-network. Please call 260-755-6587 for further assistance.

Will I eventually need to replace my prosthesis?

Depending on your activity level, a prosthesis can last anywhere from several months to several years. In the early stages after limb loss, a patient’s residual limb will fluctuate in shape significantly and this may lead to the need for a new socket, or even a new device. Follow-up care is a crucial part of a person living with limb loss’ life, and we encourage our patients to reach out routinely.
